Why was OMTP formed?
Mobile network operators created OMTP as a place to discuss and agree recommendations with Terminal and Terminal component Vendors. OMTP’s ultimate aim is to improve the end-to-end seamless user experience of Mobile Services to grow the Data Business.
Who were your members?
At its transition to WAC, there were nine full members: AT&T, Deutsche Telekom AG, KT, Orange, Smart Communications, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telenor and Vodafone with the support of two sponsors: Ericsson and Nokia. There were a total of 38 participants from all parts of the industry; including application software, hardware and the Internet space.
Is OMTP still open for business?
Since its transition to WAC, OMTP is no longer operational. It does not, therefore, have any members and its activities have either continued in WAC or other organisations.
