The Management Team

OMTP’s draws its membership from numerous companies, across many countries and several continents. Backing them up is a dedicated London-based office team with extensive product management, technical, marketing and project management skills and experience of working in both Operator and Vendor roles. As well as administration and programme management, the team manages OMTP processes and organises meetings and events throughout the year. The team also manages OMTP’s website and its media, analyst and conference activities to help take awareness of its work to a wider audience.

Tim Raby

Managing Director

Tim joined OMTP 1st January 2006. Prior to joining OMTP, Tim was Head of Devices for O2 Group where he was responsible for all Terminal technology and Portfolio activity during the 3G launch period. He was responsible for the successful launch of the first ODM consumer O2 brand X phones alongside the XDA PDA family. Tim came to O2 via BT Internet and Genie which he joined in early 2000. During this period he played a key role in every part of the evolving mobile data value chain; Business Development in Genie Europe, developing Unified Messaging, pioneering Java Games and launching O2 Active. Tim started his career as a software developer becoming a well known architect of voice and data financial trading room systems. As a director of Alphameric for 12 years he was involved in numerous data broadcast and Internet based projects.

Nick Allott

Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Nicholas Allott joined OMTP as CTO in 2005 from Fastmobile, a company specialising in cutting edge convergent messaging solutions, where he was the Technical and Strategy Director. Prior to this Nick held a number of executive positions within Motorola including acting as Engineering Director for European internet division. Consequently, Nick has a blend of commercial, technical and strategic experience from across the mobile value chain. Before entering the mobile industry, Nick held a number of consultancy positions serving Gaming, Multimedia, Internet and Data Analysis Industries working for companies such as Shell and Pearson Group. Nick has a Joint Honours degree in Computer Science and Cognitive Psychology, and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence focussed on Computational Linguistics and Neural Network Technologies. He has published several articles in this area.

Tim Haysom

Chief Marketing Officer

Tim Haysom is the CMO of OMTP, having moved from Orange in 2007, where he served as Industry Relations Manager. Tim has spent over 16 years in the mobile telecoms industry, working first on the standardization of the GSM system, through the launch of the Orange network and moving through innovation and strategy roles. Tim has extensive knowledge in the areas of technology evaluation, business case development, due diligence and the overall environment of the global mobile telecoms, media and internet industry. He participates as a speaker at industry conferences and is a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. Tim holds a B.Eng. degree in Electronics from the University of Southampton.

David Rogers

Director of External Relations

David joined OMTP in 2006 after 8 years at Panasonic Mobile. Whilst there, he headed up Panasonic’s Product Security initiatives in Europe, including investigating hacking against mobile devices. He also managed a development team specialising in hardware, software and security solutions for service centres worldwide. Prior to this David worked for Fujitsu Microelectronics Ltd, in their Newton Aycliffe DRAM fab. He holds an MSc in Software Engineering from Oxford University and a HND in Mechatronics and Semiconductor Process Engineering from the University of Teesside.

Barbara Giunchi-Burr

Office Manager

Barbara has been with OMTP since March 2005, when the OMTP Office was set up in London. She is responsible for all administrative, financial and membership duties within OMTP, as well as providing a general support function for the OMTP office and its Board. Prior to joining, Barbara spent 3 years at REL Consultancy, a Management Consultancy, where she was Office and Facilities Manager. She has also held different administrative roles within the Sales Headquarters of Jolly Hotels, Italy’s largest hotel chain.
