28 January 2008 - OMTP today released a new set of requirements for advanced device management. This document defines a set of recommendations for device management elements on the device which allow the operator, manufacturer or third party to resolve problems on the device. These problems may relate to the changing of default configuration settings, incompatibility between different settings or incompatibility between applications on the device. When these problems arise, there should be mechanisms that allow appropriate actions to be taken (e.g. bug fixes, over the air firmware updates, revocation of applications, etc.) Read more >>
28 January 2008 - OMTP today released a new set of requirements for anti-virus clients. This document defines how the anti-virus client can be remotely managed by a mobile network operator's device management authority. The device itself needs to allow such an anti-virus client to be remotely managed and hence it needs to fulfill a basic set of requirements for this type of remote application management. As an anti-virus client will use a Terminal's remote management features and does not need to implement a complete remote application management solution, this document concentrates on the features that an anti-virus client needs to support. The document defines the requirements that enable location based services for the GSM/WCDMA family of mobile Terminals in terms of platform and interfaces. It addresses different positioning techniques (wireless network based, satellite based and hybrid), standard interfaces (such as the ones defined in OMA SUPL) and APIs to be accessed from the application level in the mobile.
