Making A Statement

When can I make an OMTP product profile statement?

An “OMTP Product Profile” statement is made against a specific Approved OMTP Recommendation and version number. It may be made at the component technology, platform or device level. Not all submissions necessarily deliver all aspects of a given OMTP recommendation. Hence the “OMTP Product Profile” statement may be made against a subset of the requirements within a given recommendation. When a requirement is not applicable to the features and capabilities of the submitted component technology, platform or device it may be declared “Not Applicable” for the submission. The product profile therefore provides an indication of both feature and conformance coverage for the relevant technologies against the stated recommendation.

The Process

The OMTP Product Profile process consists of four distinct stages and the process flow has been designed to be simple and intuitive. Those stages are illustrated here:

Spend time completing all the fields within the relevant template and ensure your entries are accurate and complete (no missing statements or related comment field population where requested). Incomplete submissions may not be accepted by the portal, inaccurate submissions may result in delay or subsequent challenges.

Public and Private Submissions

The public submission process is the preferred mechanism of stating compliance. This gives maximum exposure to the submitting technology company and of course gives the best visibility to companies interested in such suppliers. However, we accept that some companies have sensitive information they do not wish to disclose. This may be done either at the individual requirement level, by marking the requirement approriately or by marking the entire profile private. A private profile is not uploaded onto the website, and consquently there is no risk of confidential information escaping. But in making the private statement, the company is saying that a profile does exist for interested companies to inspect on a bilateral basis.
